In the Kyzylbalyksky rural district of Atyrau region, a police officer does not go home after duty, but to the gym - to train local teenagers. The platoon commander of the special rapid response unit (SOBR) Azamat Kashtenbay has for more than ten years combined law enforcement work with bringing up young athletes, and his club has already produced prize-winners of Asian and European level tournaments.
HOW THE «KASHTENBAY» CLUB CAME ABOUT
The idea of opening a sports club in his native village came to Azamat Kashtenbay back in 2014. He realised it together with his younger brother Merey - and so the «Kashtenbay» club appeared in the Kyzylbalyksky rural district. Since then it has worked without a break, and the police officer combines coaching duties with his service.
HOW MANY CHILDREN TRAIN TODAY
Over the years of its existence, the club has turned into a permanent sports facility for rural teenagers. Today, around 70 children train regularly at «Kashtenbay».
WHAT RESULTS THE PUPILS HAVE ACHIEVED
Students of the «Kashtenbay» club regularly step onto the podium at regional and republican competitions. Some of the pupils have also risen to international level - they have become prize-winners of Asian and European championships. 
WHAT THE CLUB GIVES CHILDREN BESIDES SPORT
For Azamat Kashtenbay, training is not only a path to medals, but also a way to instil in teenagers discipline, responsibility, stamina and hard work. Alongside sports training, he cultivates in his pupils humanity and devotion to serving their country.
According to the club's organisers, caring for one's native village and bringing up champions is an example of service to one's native land.
