A group of individuals suspected of extortion and robbery has been detained in the Talgar district of the Almaty region. According to the investigation, after the attack the victim was demanded 10 million tenge, and his car was taken as collateral.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to the police department of the Almaty region, the incident occurred on the night of 16th to 17th April in the Talgar district. According to preliminary data, the suspects acted according to a pre-planned scheme and lured a 28-year-old man to a deserted place.
"Later, threatening him with a knife and using violence, they inflicted a knife wound on him and forcibly transported him to a mountainous area," said the head of the Almaty region police department, Meyram Abikeyev.
WHAT DEMANDS WERE MADE OF THE VICTIM
As noted by the police, the suspects intimidated the man by threatening to report him to law enforcement authorities for allegedly unlawful actions on his part. After that, it is claimed, they demanded 10 million tenge.
As collateral, the suspects seized the victim's car. The value of the vehicle is estimated at 17 million tenge. The property is currently being held as part of the investigative proceedings.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE INVESTIGATION
The police are conducting a pre-trial investigation to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
The possible involvement of those detained in other similar crimes is also being checked.
