Цены на бензин в Казахстане различаются между мегаполисами после моратория

As of 20 April, a difference in petrol prices of up to 19 tenge per litre persists in Astana, Almaty and Shymkent. Since the end of the moratorium, the fuel market has shown regional variation without sharp spikes. The lowest price ranges for the main types of fuel were recorded in Shymkent, while fuel is more expensive in Astana and Almaty.

WHAT THE PRICE MONITORING SHOWED

According to the association Kazenergy, the most noticeable difference is seen for AI-92 petrol. In Astana, a litre sells for 237–238 tenge, in Almaty for 237–240 tenge, and in Shymkent for 221–226 tenge. Thus, the gap between cities reaches 12–19 tenge per litre.

For AI-95 petrol, prices also differ: in Astana, the cost is 309–315 tenge, in Almaty 313–322 tenge, and in Shymkent 297–305 tenge per litre.

WHERE IS PETROL MOST EXPENSIVE

The most expensive type of fuel remains AI-98. In Astana, it is sold for 354–365 tenge per litre, in Almaty for 357–375 tenge, and in Shymkent for 345–359 tenge.

The highest upper limit among the three cities was recorded in Almaty — 375 tenge per litre.

WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH DIESEL AND AUTOGAS

Diesel fuel prices differ less than petrol. In Astana, diesel costs 328–333 tenge, in Almaty 330–336 tenge, and in Shymkent 325–334 tenge per litre.

Autogas in Astana and Almaty sells for 112 tenge per litre, and in Shymkent for 102 tenge.

CONTEXT

In October 2025, Kazakhstan introduced a temporary moratorium on price increases for AI-92 petrol and diesel fuel.

A single maximum price was not set nationwide. Oversight of compliance with the decision was assigned to the Ministry of Energy, regional headquarters under the akimats, and market participants.

The moratorium ended on 1 April 2026.
