Платные парковки подорожают в Алматы до 200 тенге в час

From 4 October paid parking in Almaty will rise to 200 tenge per hour in the most in-demand zones. For residents of adjacent buildings, free parking will be retained by special permit.

HOW THE COST OF PARKING WILL CHANGE

According to the akimat of Almaty, the new tariffs were set taking into account the load on parking zones. In areas with low traffic load, the cost will remain the same — 100 tenge per hour.

In car parks with medium intensity of use, the tariff will be 150 tenge per hour, and in the most in-demand zones, where there is a shortage of free spaces, — 200 tenge per hour.

WHY THE TARIFFS WERE CHANGED

According to the Department of Traffic Management and Passenger Transport of Almaty, the previous cost of parking had not changed since 2016. During this time, the number of cars in the city has exceeded 1 million.

The city authorities link the revision of tariffs to the increased load on the road network and the shortage of parking spaces. The decision to introduce differentiated payment was supported at a session of the city maslikhat.

WHAT BENEFITS WILL BE RETAINED FOR RESIDENTS

Residents of buildings located in paid parking zones will still be able to park one car free of charge by special permit. It can be issued for a chosen car park near the place of residence.

In addition, the existing benefits for certain categories of users will be retained. The full list of these categories is not specified in the materials provided.

HOW THE USE OF CAR PARKS WILL CHANGE

According to the city authorities' plan, differentiated payment should increase the turnover of parking spaces and reduce the time spent searching for free parking. Among the stated goals is also a reduction in the number of violations of the rules on stopping and standing.
