Police officers seized more than 6 kg of synthetic drugs in several regions of Kazakhstan. The arrests took place in Almaty, the East Kazakhstan Region (EKR), and the Karaganda Region.
WHAT THE MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS REPORTED
According to Polisia.kz, in the second half of May, units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) combating drug crime carried out a series of arrests in various regions of the country.
In Almaty, a local resident was detained. During a search, more than 2 kg of alpha-PVP was seized from her. The MIA reported that the suspect had given a confession.
Also in the metropolis, another suspect was detained. According to the department, during a search of the young man, approximately 1 kg of synthetic drugs and psychotropic tablets were found.
WHAT ARRESTS TOOK PLACE IN THE REGIONS
In the EKR, police officers detained a resident of the Almaty Region, suspected of delivering drugs to the regions under the direction of an online shop curator. During a search, more than 2 kg of narcotic substances were seized from him.
In the Karaganda Region, on the Almaty — Yekaterinburg highway, another suspect was detained. According to the MIA, approximately 1 kg of alpha-PVP was found in the car's interior.
UNDER WHICH ARTICLE THE CASE IS BEING INVESTIGATED
The total volume of seized drugs exceeded 6 kg. The department noted that this is equivalent to approximately 18 thousand single doses.
Pre-trial investigations are being conducted under Part 3 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (CC RK) ("Illegal manufacture, processing, acquisition, storage, transportation for the purpose of sale, or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their analogues").
All suspects have been placed in temporary detention facilities (TDF). Law enforcement agencies are carrying out operational and investigative activities to identify other possible involved parties.
WHAT THE MIA COMMITTEE STATED
The head of the Department of the Committee for Combating Drug Crime of the MIA, Bakhytzhan Amirkhanov, urged young people not to participate in drug distribution for quick money.
According to him, the organisers of the illegal business use young people as "disposable material".
