Drivers wait for coal around the clock in kilometre-long queues in Ust-Kamenogorsk

With the onset of cold weather in Öskemen (Ust-Kamenogorsk), the situation with coal supplies has worsened. At the entrances to the city's railway sidings, kilometre-long queues of trucks have formed — from the Neftebaza area to the warehouses.

According to ORDA, drivers wait for loading for days on end. Footage from the scene is being widely shared on social media.

As noted by the Akimat, the disruptions are linked to delays in the delivery of wagons from the Karazhyra deposit and increased demand from residents of border areas who are buying fuel in bulk. Five coal sidings operate in the city, the main ones being "Seicom" and "Fuel Company Terminal".

The deputy head of the city's Housing and Utilities Department, Rashid Sherubayev, reported that the authorities have reached an agreement with JSC "Karazhyra" to increase supply volumes. According to him, the situation is under control.

However, journalists stress that the problem is systemic. Every heating season, around 28,000 households not connected to central heating face a rush and coal shortages.

Earlier, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov reported that over the past three years, violations worth 37 billion tenge have been identified in Kazakhstan's coal industry.
