Funding for the security bloc in 2026 will be 3 trillion tenge. The funds allocated for the needs of the structures, including the Ministry of Defence (MoD), the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the National Security Committee (NSC), will be used to modernise weapons and purchase new types of equipment.
WHERE THE FUNDING WILL GO
Deputy Minister of Defence Askar Mustabekov said on the sidelines of the Mazhilis that the funding will be used to modernise weapons and purchase new types of equipment.
According to him, this includes modern developments, including unmanned aerial vehicles. Funds have also been allocated for the renewal of aviation equipment and the acquisition of air defence systems.
WHAT AREAS HAVE BEEN NAMED AS PRIORITIES
As Askar Mustabekov clarified, the key areas of expenditure include:
- modernisation of existing weapons;
- purchase of new types of weaponry;
- development of drone technologies;
- renewal of aviation equipment;
- strengthening air defence systems.
CONTEXT
Earlier, it became known that the volume of funding for the security bloc in 2026 will be 3 trillion tenge, which is 335 billion tenge more compared to the current year. As a result, defence spending will reach approximately 1% of gross domestic product (GDP).
