Aibek Dadebai has been elected Chairman of the first convocation of the Qurultai. Deputies also elected three deputy speakers and formed eight standing committees.
HOW THE QURULTAI SPEAKER WAS ELECTED
The candidacy of Aibek Dadebai for the post of Chairman of the Qurultai was put forward by the Head of State in accordance with Article 11 of the Constitutional Act "On the Qurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Status of Its Deputies".
The election was held by direct secret ballot. A counting commission was formed from among the deputies to conduct the vote and count the ballots.
Following the vote, Aibek Dadebai was elected Speaker of the first convocation of the Qurultai.
WHO BECAME DEPUTY CHAIRMEN
In accordance with Article 11 of the Constitutional Act "On the Qurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Status of Its Deputies", the Chairman of the Qurultai, Aibek Dadebai, proposed the candidacies of Nurlan Beknazarov, Daniya Yespayeva and Dinara Zakiyeva for the posts of his deputies.
The deputies held an open vote and supported the Speaker's proposal.
WHAT COMMITTEES HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED IN THE QURULTAI
Eight standing committees have been formed in the Qurultai. Their chairmen were elected as follows:
- Serik Yegizbayev — Committee on Agrarian Issues, Ecology and Natural Resources;
- Unzila Shapak — Committee on Constitutional Legislation, the Judicial System and Law Enforcement Bodies;
- Marat Kozhayev — Committee on International Affairs, Defence and Security;
- Amirbek Ospanbekov — Committee on Regional and Infrastructure Development;
- Askhat Aimagambetov — Committee on Socio-Cultural Development;
- Olga Perepechina — Committee on Finance and Budget;
- Darkhan Akhmediyev — Committee on Digitalisation, Innovation and Science;
- Natalya Godunova — Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Energy.
CONTEXT
Earlier, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev opened the first session of the first convocation of the Qurultai. In connection with the election of the new legislative body, the Government resigned before the Qurultai and will continue to carry out its duties until the new composition is approved.
Following the formation of the Qurultai's structure, the President will submit the candidacies of a Vice-President and a Prime Minister for consideration by the deputies. After consultations, the members of the Government will be appointed.
