In Ust-Kamenogorsk, an unscheduled inspection of the metallurgical site of Kazinc LLP revealed exceedances of pollutant emission standards into the atmosphere. The enterprise was brought to administrative liability, and orders were also issued to eliminate violations in the operation of gas-cleaning equipment.
WHY THE ENTERPRISE WAS INSPECTED
According to the Department of Ecology for the East Kazakhstan Region (EKR), on 1 October 2026, an unscheduled inspection of the Ust-Kamenogorsk metallurgical site of the metallurgical complex of Kazinc LLP was completed. The reason was numerous appeals from citizens regarding atmospheric air pollution in the city's industrial zone.
WHAT THE INSPECTION RESULTS SHOWED
Laboratory tests revealed exceedances of pollutant emission standards into the atmospheric air.
The inspection also established improper operation of certain gas-cleaning installations. As a result, the equipment does not ensure the design efficiency for cleaning exhaust gases.
WHAT MEASURES WERE TAKEN
Following the inspection, the legal entity was brought to administrative liability under Articles 328 ("Violation of standards for permissible anthropogenic impact on the environment") and 331 of the Administrative Offences Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Violation of requirements for the protection of atmospheric air and the protection of water bodies from pollution and clogging").
In addition, the Department of Ecology issued binding orders. They are aimed at eliminating the identified violations, ensuring proper operation of the equipment and restoring the design efficiency of gas cleaning.
