Kazakhstan has entered the top 30 countries with the highest level of use of artificial intelligence (AI). This data was presented by the OpenAI delegation during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, Zhaslan Madiev.

WHAT THE DATA ON CHATGPT USAGE SHOWED

Representatives of OpenAI presented analytical data on the use of ChatGPT in Kazakhstan. According to this data, the country has entered the ranks of nations with a high level of AI adoption and is ahead of other Central Asian countries.

Kyrgyzstan occupies 52nd place in the global ranking, while Uzbekistan is in 58th place for per capita use of the consumer version of ChatGPT.

Residents of Kazakhstan most often use the neural network to obtain practical advice, write and edit texts, and search for information. More than 42% of messages are questions or requests for information, around 32% are related to completing specific tasks, and 26% relate to self-expression.

WHO USES AI MORE OFTEN IN KAZAKHSTAN

The main driver of technology adoption has been young people. Users aged 18 to 24 generate 36.2% of all messages, while the 25 to 34 age group accounts for 35.8%. In total, users aged 18 to 34 account for 72% of requests.

Younger users more often use AI for working with texts and multimedia, while the 25 to 34 age group is more active in using tools for technical assistance.

The distribution between users with names typically associated with men and women was found to be almost equal.

WHAT THE REPRESENTATIVES OF BOTH SIDES SAID

Zhaslan Madiev noted that the high level of AI usage creates a foundation for integrating such technologies into education, business, and public administration. According to him, citizens are already using artificial intelligence for learning, solving work tasks, searching for information, and creating content.

The head of the international education department at OpenAI, Valérie Focke, stated that Kazakhstan is among the countries actively adopting artificial intelligence. According to her, the next step will be expanding the practical benefits of the technologies for users through educational initiatives and teacher training.

HOW THE EDUCATION PROJECT IS DEVELOPING

The visit of the OpenAI delegation is taking place as part of a national project to introduce AI into Kazakhstan's education system. Under the terms of the initiative, access to ChatGPT Edu will be granted to 165,000 teachers.

The technology partner for the project is Bilim Group. The company is responsible for integrating OpenAI solutions into the education system and participates in developing methodological practices for using artificial intelligence in schools, colleges, and universities. The organisation of the visit is handled by the project team Bilim UpSkill, part of the Bilim Group ecosystem.
