An attack took place on a citizen of Kazakhstan in a supermarket in Northern Cyprus. After this, the man, according to preliminary data, inflicted knife wounds on himself. Both survived and were hospitalised.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to the Telegram channel "HALYQSTAN", the incident took place on 3 August at 11:45 in the MetropolMarket supermarket in the city of Nicosia in Northern Cyprus.
It is reported that a man attacked a citizen of Kazakhstan with a knife, after which he used the same knife to inflict wounds on himself in the throat area. Both were taken to hospital.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE VICTIM
According to the publication, the victim is 22-year-old Zhanerke Abdrazakova. She is in an extremely serious condition.
It is noted that, presumably, the attacker may have been the girl's former boyfriend. There was no official confirmation of this information at the time of publication.
MINISTRY COMMENT
As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the department is aware of the incident.
"At present, Kazakh diplomats are establishing the details of what happened and are in contact with the local competent authorities. Further information will be provided as official details become available. This matter is under the ministry's control," the department stated.
