Karlygash Dzhamankulova has submitted an application to resign as president of the International Fund for the Protection of Freedom of Speech "Adil Soz". She also announced her withdrawal from the fund's founders, explaining this by her nomination for election to the Kurultai and the need to avoid a potential conflict of roles.
WHY THIS DECISION WAS MADE
As Karlygash Dzhamankulova reported on her Facebook account, she has sent a statement to the founders' meeting regarding her resignation as president of the fund and her withdrawal from its founders.
According to her, the decision is linked to her nomination for election to the Kurultai. She noted that in this way she aims to avoid any potential conflicts of roles.
WHAT DZHAMANKULOVA SAID ABOUT WORKING AT THE FUND
According to Karlygash Dzhamankulova, the International Fund for the Protection of Freedom of Speech "Adil Soz" accompanied her professional journey since her student years. She said that initially she participated in the fund's training sessions and internships, then used its analytical materials, and later supported the organisation's projects while working in international structures.
Dzhamankulova emphasised that over the years of operation, the fund has built a significant expert and analytical base that contributes to the protection of freedom of speech, professional dialogue in the media sphere, improvement of legislation, and expansion of opportunities for journalists.
She also noted that the last 3 years of work were an important professional stage for her, and thanked the fund's staff, regional partners, and colleagues for their joint work.
WHO WILL LEAD THE FUND
A new president of the fund will be elected by the founders' meeting. After the decision is made, the organisation has promised to officially announce the name of the new head.
CONTEXT
On 15 April, an initiative group of 16 people, which included Karlygash Dzhamankulova, submitted an application to the Ministry of Justice for the creation of the "Adilet" party. On 17 April 2026, the organising committee confirmed the creation of the political party, and on 1 June it received state registration.
On 10 July in Astana, the third extraordinary congress of the "Adilet" party took place. Delegates approved the party list of 186 candidates for deputies of the Kurultai, a new version of the party charter, and the amount of membership fees. The approved list also included Karlygash Dzhamankulova.
