Video footage has been received by the FBRK editorial team showing water flooding in a rural area. The video was presumably shot in the area between the villages of Mayskoye and Bostandyk in the Akzhar district of the North Kazakhstan region.
WHAT THE FOOTAGE SHOWS
The published footage shows a significant flow of water spreading across a low-lying area and overflowing over an embankment or road. Soil erosion and flooding of the surrounding area are also visible.
The water is not coming from a single point, as would be the case with a burst well or pipe, but rather covers a wide area. This could indicate overflow over an embankment or issues with drainage.
It is worth noting that in the Akzhar district in 2025, the construction of branch lines from the Bulayevo group water supply system to several villages, with a total length of approximately 123 km, was completed. The project took about two years and brought the main networks to the settlements.
It was reported that the next phase, scheduled for 2026, involves the installation of pressure towers and reservoirs in the villages, including Mayskoye, for full connection to the water supply system.
Given that work on the construction of the water pipelines has recently been completed in the district and infrastructural connections are ongoing, it can be assumed that the situation may have arisen near these facilities or in adjacent areas. There is currently no confirmation of this link.
RESPONSE AND INVESTIGATION
The FBRK editorial team has, for its part, sent an official request to the Akimat of the North Kazakhstan Region to clarify the causes of the incident, any possible connection to the water supply infrastructure, as well as information on the measures being taken and the current situation on the ground.
UPD: THE AUTHORITIES' RESPONSE
Later, the situation was commented on by the Akimat. The Department of Internal Policy, Culture and Language Development of the Akzhar district reported that the erosion of a plot of land, which is not a road leading to the village of Mayskoye, was recorded on 2 April 2026.
According to the department, this plot is located away from the main routes, so the incident does not affect vehicle movement.
It was also clarified that in 2025, a culvert was laid at this location during the construction of the main water pipeline line. Due to heavy floods, the earth bed collapsed at the site of the work.
It is noted that the situation is currently under control. The contractor, GidroProm LLP, will carry out restoration work under its warranty obligations.
