In the Akmola Region an illegal laboratory producing synthetic drugs has been shut down. As a result of the special operation, a 54-year-old man and his 26-year-old son have been detained.
HOW THE LABORATORY WAS DISCOVERED
According to Polisia.kz, officers from the Committee on Combating Drug Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs uncovered the large-scale production of synthetic drugs. According to the department, some of the precursors were intended for shipment to other regions of the country.
SEIZED EQUIPMENT AND SUBSTANCES
The following items were seized during the special operation:
- 200 kg of mephedrone;
- over 2 tonnes of precursors;
- chemical reactors;
- laboratory equipment and reagents.
According to experts, this volume of drugs could constitute around 600,000 single doses. The value of the seized products on the black market exceeds 5 billion tenge (approximately $10 million).
COURSE OF THE INVESTIGATION
Both detainees are suspected of organising the production of synthetic drugs. Further procedural measures will be determined in accordance with criminal law.
"Thanks to the well-planned special operation, we were able to disrupt the entire chain — from chemical suppliers to the production organisers. The law provides for penalties for drug business organisers of up to life imprisonment. Work in this area continues," said the Chairman of the Committee on Combating Drug Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Daniyar Meirkhan.
