Posts containing statements attributed to Kazakhstan's Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov have spread on social media in Russian, Czech and English. The information being circulated has been officially refuted.

HOW THE INFORMATION SPREAD

According to the Anti-Disinformation Centre, the posts appeared in the foreign segment of the social networks X and Bluesky. Analysis showed that messages with identical wording were disseminated by accounts whose localisation covers several countries in Eastern and Central Europe.

Within a few hours, the original post on X had gained more than 12,000 views and over 200 reposts.

WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE SPREAD

The posts claimed that Kazakhstan intends to join a boycott of Russia at the Ice Hockey World Championship.

As the Centre noted, the simultaneous promotion of identical messages in several languages may indicate signs of possible coordination in the spread of disinformation.

The Executive Director of the Kazakhstan Ice Hockey Federation officially refuted the information being circulated. According to his explanations, the statements attributed to the minister do not correspond to reality.

CONTEXT

In October 2026, the Anti-Disinformation Centre identified 10 cases of the spread of false and manipulative information in Kazakhstan. Among them were reports of fictitious payments, changes to the individual identification number (IIN), military raids, emergencies and supposedly new state mortgage programmes.
