The transport department of Astana has confirmed that errors were made when applying road markings on Mangilik Yel Avenue. Earlier, the FBRK editorial team drew attention to this section after receiving photographs of contradictory markings.

WHAT VIOLATIONS WERE IDENTIFIED

According to the Department of Transport and Road Transport Infrastructure Development of the City of Astana, the errors in applying the markings were linked to a "human factor" during night-time work.

At the same time, technical supervision experts recorded violations in geometric parameters and insufficient removal of old lines.

The technical supervision directives specify that the markings were applied with deviations from straightness, the uniform geometry and direction of the stripes were not maintained, and the old markings were not removed, visually distorting the new ones.

WHAT THE AUTHORITIES SAID

The transport department stated that the identified defects have already been rectified.

However, the response does not specify when exactly the violations were corrected, whether any measures were taken against the contractor, or how any potential fines issued while the incorrect markings were in place are being addressed.

CONTEXT

Earlier, the FBRK editorial team received photographs from Mangilik Yel Avenue, in which the old yellow markings of the bus lane were partially preserved, while a new white line was applied with deviations, creating an ambiguous perception of the traffic organisation.
