After the final joint session of the chambers of the Parliament, deputies of the Mazhilis spoke about what they intend to do in the coming months. Among the plans are involvement in public activities, teaching, scientific work, and waiting for further decisions related to the new format of representative bodies.
WHAT THE DEPUTIES SAID
According to the deputies, after the conclusion of parliamentary work, they intend to return to their professional activities or continue their public work.
Mazhilis deputy Yerlan Sairov said he would submit an application to the «Adilet» party, after which he plans to work in the regions on his previous areas of focus. In the future, he intends to engage in science, teaching, and creative work. According to him, he is a teacher.
As Mazhilis deputy Samat Nurtaza said, in July he plans to rest, after which he expects elections in August. If he manages to get into the Qurultai, he will continue his work in the new format. If not, he will return to teaching. He noted that he teaches political science and previously worked at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages.
Mazhilis deputy Aidos Sarym answered the question about his future plans briefly: «I will tell you after the congress».
CONTEXT
On 30 June 2026, the last joint session of the two chambers of the Parliament of Kazakhstan took place. During the session, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke, summing up the 30-year work of the Parliament and outlining further directions for the country's development.
From 1 July 2026, the new Constitution comes into force, under which the powers of the current parliament are terminated. Instead of the bicameral system consisting of the Senate and the Mazhilis, a unicameral Qurultai begins its work.
Elections to the new representative body are scheduled for August.
