Residents of an eight-entrance, five-storey building in Petropavlovsk have reported regular flooding of the basement with a murky, milky-coloured liquid. According to them, there is a strong smell of soured dairy products and fat in the room, which spreads through the stairwells and reaches the flats.

WHAT HAPPENED

According to the Telegram channel 'HALYQSTAN', the basement of the residential building is regularly filled with a milky-coloured liquid. The publication claims that the smell of soured dairy products and fat can be detected not only in the basement but also in the building's stairwells.

In the published footage, a local plumber shows a hole in the floor, temporarily blocked with a piece of plastic pipe. According to him, after removing the plug from the hole, liquid begins to flow out.

WHO THE RESIDENTS BLAME

The residents of the building suspect that industrial waste may be the cause of the issue. According to them, suspicion falls on a local butter and cheese factory located nearby.

It is alleged that the enterprise may be discharging waste into the municipal sewer system, which, in the residents' opinion, cannot cope with the large volume of fatty runoff.

The publication also states that residents consider the actions of the responsible services to be insufficient.
