The Specialised Inter-District Criminal Court of Mangystau Region found members of a transnational criminal group linked to an online drug shop guilty. The convicted individuals were sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 16 to 18 years, and funds exceeding 2 billion tenge were confiscated to the state.
HOW THE INVESTIGATION WAS CONDUCTED
According to the prosecutor's office of Mangystau Region, in September 2025, special prosecutors completed the investigation of several criminal cases against a transnational organised group operating through the online drug shop "DJUNE OPERATOR".
As part of operational and investigative activities and the analysis of financial flows, law enforcement agencies detained four individuals. The detentions took place in the territories of Zhambyl Region and Aktobe Region and the city of Shymkent.
The investigation established the movement of funds allegedly obtained from illegal activity. During searches, funds totalling over 2 billion tenge were seized, and property with a total value of more than 100 million tenge was placed under arrest.
Furthermore, narcotic drugs in particularly large quantities were seized from illegal circulation.
COURT DECISION AND CLASSIFICATION
Following the examination of the cases on 19 February and 20 March 2026, the Specialised Inter-District Criminal Court of Mangystau Region found the defendants guilty.
Their actions were classified under several episodes, including:
- the sale of narcotic drugs as part of a transnational organised group;
- the storage of narcotics in particularly large quantities;
- illegal entrepreneurial activity;
- the legalisation of money obtained through criminal means.
The court imposed a sentence of imprisonment for a period of 16 to 18 years.
CONFISCATION OF PROPERTY
The court ordered the confiscation to the state of funds exceeding 2 billion tenge. Luxury cars previously seized, belonging to the convicted individuals, are also subject to confiscation.
At the time of publication, the sentences have not yet entered into legal force.
