WHAT IS KNOWN
According to the prosecutor's office of the Akmola region, the facts of civil servants participating in gambling were identified during an analysis of compliance with the requirements of anti-corruption legislation.
The inspection established that one of the civil servants systematically placed bets through a bookmaker's mobile application. The total amount of top-ups to their gaming account exceeded 5.7 million tenge.
WHAT VIOLATIONS WERE ESTABLISHED
The prosecutor's office identified violations of the requirements of legislation on combating corruption, civil service, and norms of official ethics.
Following the results of the inspection, the prosecutor's office issued an act of prosecutorial supervision. After its review, disciplinary measures were taken against the guilty individuals.
In addition, the prosecutor's office carried out preventive work aimed at preventing similar violations among civil servants.
CONTEXT
Previously, in the Ulytau region, 22 alimony debtors were identified who, despite having debts to their children, continued to top up accounts on bookmaker platforms, place bets, and receive winnings. Pre-trial investigations have been initiated into the identified facts.
In June 2026, it became known that the chief of the guard of fire station No. 24 of the Emergency Situations Department of the city of Aktobe, Nurbek Uteniyazov, who had worked in the rescue service system for more than 12 years, was dismissed for non-compliance with anti-corruption restrictions following an inspection. The court declared the dismissal orders unlawful but refused to reinstate him in his position, considering the violation itself sufficient grounds for termination of the employment contract.
