A 10-year-old boy received an electric shock and fell from a height in the village of Dolinka, Karaganda Region. The child is in a serious condition in the intensive care unit of the regional children's hospital.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to Ekaraganda.kz, the accident occurred on 1 June at around 18:30 in Zavodskoy Lane in the village of Dolinka.
As the victim's sister recounted, the boy climbed onto a metal power line support with a voltage of 6000 volts, located next to a children's playground. After being hit by the electric shock, the child fell from a height and sustained serious injuries.
"Seryozha is currently in intensive care in a serious condition. He has severe burns and serious injuries from the fall. We wait for news from the doctors every day and pray for his recovery," the appeal states.
WHAT THE FAMILY SAID
According to relatives, the power line support was freely accessible and not fenced off. They also noted that children regularly play in this area and often climb onto the structure.
The child's relatives stressed that they are not blaming anyone until the official investigation is completed.
In the appeal, the boy's sister asked for attention to be drawn to the situation to prevent similar incidents in the future.
COMMENT FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT
As reported by the Police Department (DP) of the Karaganda Region, the fact of the injury has been registered.
The department clarified that the materials have been sent to the state institution "Territorial Department of the Committee for Atomic and Energy Supervision and Control for the Karaganda Region" to determine whether signs of a criminal offence exist.
Other circumstances of the incident and issues concerning compliance with safety requirements are to be established by the authorised bodies.
WHAT CONDITION IS THE CHILD IN
The Karaganda Region Health Department confirmed that the boy is in a serious condition in the intensive care unit of the regional children's hospital.
Deputy Akim of the village of Dolinka, Zhasulan Khamitov, stated that the child is receiving the necessary treatment, and medical care is being provided in full.
According to him, to restrict access to the facility, the service provider will install an additional protective barrier.
CONTEXT AND SIGNIFICANCE
The incident in the village of Dolinka is not the only case of children suffering electrical injuries that has drawn public attention in Kazakhstan.
Earlier in Temirtau, three children received an electric shock near a construction site when one of them tried to retrieve a ball that had gone over the fence. The other two were injured while trying to help. A criminal case was opened into the incident under the article "Negligence".
Another incident occurred in August 2025 in Almaty, where an 18-month-old girl received an electrical injury in the courtyard of a residential complex after touching metal reinforcement next to a street lamp.
