In the Abai region, a car with three people inside ended up in a stream of meltwater on a field road. The vehicle got stuck in a ravine, and those inside were unable to get out on their own. Rescue workers evacuated them and took them to the nearest populated area.
HOW THE CAR ENDED UP IN THE STREAM OF WATER
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MES), the men in the car were travelling along a field road in the Aksuat district.
At some point, the vehicle entered a stream of meltwater and ended up in a ravine. The people were no longer able to get out on their own.
There were three people in the car.
HOW THE RESCUE OPERATION WAS CARRIED OUT
According to the MES of the Republic of Kazakhstan, rescuers had to travel around 40 kilometres to reach the scene of the incident.
Once there, they evacuated the people from the vehicle and took them to the nearest populated area.
The ministry stated that there were no casualties, and no one required medical assistance.
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN SEMEY BECAUSE OF THE MELTWATER
At the same time, in Semey, work is continuing to pump out water and prevent flooding.
According to the Semey Akimat, 250 people have been deployed to deal with the flooding. Military unit 68303 of the MES of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been brought in for additional assistance.
During the night shift, 65 units of equipment are operating in the city.
According to local authorities, specialists are continuing to pump out water around the clock and divert it to safe zones.
