In May 2026, the Border Service of the National Security Committee (BS NSC), together with the competent authorities, detained 3,881 violators of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the border area. Furthermore, 1,180 cases of illegal movement of goods and cargo across the state border were prevented.
WHAT RESULTS WERE RECORDED IN MAY
According to the press service of the NSC, as part of ensuring the protection and security of the State Border during May 2026, 3,881 violators were detained, of which 1,125 are foreign nationals.
In addition, BS NSC officers prevented 1,180 cases of illegal movement of goods and cargo across the border.
WHAT ITEMS AND GOODS WERE ATTEMPTED TO BE SMUGGLED
Among the identified violations, 41 cases of illegal movement of narcotic drugs were recorded.
Also identified were 61 cases of movement of weapons and ammunition, including the seizure of 2 firearms, 42 bladed weapons and 118 rounds of ammunition.
In addition, 406 cases of illegal movement of fuel and lubricants (POL) with a total volume of over 85 tonnes were prevented. 526 cases of illegal movement of consumer goods worth more than 665 million tenge were identified.
Another 146 cases involved the movement of currency totalling 1.5 billion tenge.
WHAT VIOLATIONS WERE IDENTIFIED IN THE CASPIAN SEA AREA
The BS NSC prevented 12 cases of poaching in the waters of the Caspian Sea.
During the operations, poaching gear and sturgeon fish were seized.
WHAT PROCEDURAL MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN
According to the agency, the amount of prevented damage exceeded 210 million tenge.
Within its competence, the BS NSC initiated 62 criminal cases. Investigative measures are being carried out on these cases.
For the remaining identified violations, the materials have been sent to law enforcement and judicial authorities for procedural decisions.
