In September 2026, the Border Service of the National Security Committee (BS NSC) detained 4,138 violators and prevented 1,598 instances of illegal movement of goods and cargo worth more than 2.5 billion tenge.
WHAT VIOLATIONS WERE DETECTED AT THE BORDER
According to the NSC press service, among those detained for violations of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the border area, 3,502 people were foreign nationals.
During border control, 1,598 instances of illegal movement of goods and cargo were also detected.
WHAT THEY TRIED TO MOVE ILLEGALLY ACROSS THE BORDER
In September, border guards detected 37 instances of illegal movement of narcotics and 62 instances of illegal movement of weapons and ammunition. During inspections, 2 traumatic weapons, 2 gas weapons and 77 rounds of ammunition were seized.
The largest number of violations involved fuel and lubricants — 816 instances with a total volume of more than 80 tonnes worth 24.1 million tenge. 549 instances of illegal movement of consumer goods worth more than 1.3 billion tenge and 134 instances of currency movement worth more than 1.2 billion tenge were also recorded.
POACHING IN THE CASPIAN SEA
A separate area of the border guards' work is the fight against poaching. Over the month, 48 instances of illegal fishing were suppressed in the waters of the Caspian Sea.
As a result, 41.7 km of poaching fishing gear was seized, as well as 145 specimens of sturgeon with a total weight of 840 kg. According to the NSC, the amount of prevented damage exceeded 350 million tenge.
HOW MANY CASES WERE OPENED AND WHAT MEASURES WERE TAKEN
Within the framework of its powers, the BS NSC opened 66 criminal cases. Investigative measures are ongoing in these cases.
In addition, 3,607 administrative cases are in proceedings. Fines totalling more than 34 million tenge were imposed in these cases.
Materials on the remaining detected instances were sent to law enforcement and judicial authorities for procedural decisions.
CONTEXT
In July 2026, the BS NSC reported 149 instances of illegal movement of foreign currency worth more than 2.1 billion tenge. In total, over the month the agency prevented 2,476 instances of illegal movement of goods and cargo with a total value of more than 3.9 billion tenge.
In August 2026, the BS NSC detained 5,588 violators of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the border area. Among them were 4,907 foreign nationals.
