WHAT VIOLATIONS THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE UNCOVERED

An inspection of the enforcement of court orders on alimony collection revealed more than 5,000 instances of inaction by bailiffs.

In addition, 5,500 debtors concealed real income totalling 26 billion tenge from their children.

WHAT EQUIPMENT WAS DISCOVERED AMONG THE DEBTORS

To improve the efficiency of recovery, at the initiative of the capital's prosecutor's office, a new method of working with debtors was introduced. Now recovery is also applied to specialised equipment that had previously remained outside the field of vision of private bailiffs (PB).

As a result, prosecutors identified 126 units of construction, road and agricultural equipment with a total value of 2 billion tenge.

HOW MUCH ALIMONY WAS RECOVERED

To date, the prosecutor's office has recovered more than 2 billion tenge in alimony in favour of 2,500 children.

Following the inspection, the prosecutor's office submitted an act of supervision to the Ministry of Justice. The ministry was instructed to ensure recovery at the expense of the identified income and specialised equipment, as well as to hold those who allowed the inaction strictly accountable.

The Astana Prosecutor's Office called on debtors to conscientiously fulfil their obligations to maintain their children.

CONTEXT

The problem of evasion of alimony payments remains relevant in other regions of Kazakhstan as well.

Thus, since the beginning of 2026, the prosecutor's office of Kyzylorda Region has registered 32 criminal cases against debtors who deliberately evaded alimony payments. Convictions have already been handed down in 12 cases.

In Ulytau Region, 22 alimony debtors were identified who, despite owing arrears to their children, continued to top up accounts on betting platforms, place bets and receive winnings. Pre-trial investigations have been launched into the identified facts.
