Over the seven months of 2026, 44,954,050 vehicle passages were recorded on the toll sections of Kazakhstan's republican highways. The busiest section was Almaty – Konayev, where more than 7.1 million passages were recorded.

WHICH SECTION TOPPED THE RANKING

According to JSC "NC "KazAvtoZhol", the statistics cover the period from 1 January to 31 July 2026. On the Almaty – Konayev section, 7,149,537 passages were recorded — almost 16% of the total. On average, this amounts to approximately 33.7 thousand passages per day.

Second place went to the Shymkent – Uzbekistan border route with 5,463,475 passages, and third to Shymkent – Taraz with 3,784,782.

The top five also included Taraz – Kainar3,289,935 passages and Shymkent – Kyzylorda2,736,666.

WHERE THE HIGHEST TRAFFIC WAS RECORDED

Four southern routes — Shymkent – Uzbekistan border, Shymkent – Taraz, Taraz – Kainar and Shymkent – Kyzylorda — together accounted for more than 15.2 million passages.

High traffic intensity was also noted on the routes linking the capital with the regions. On the Astana – Temirtau section, 2,293,893 passages were recorded, on Astana – Shchuchinsk2,219,653, and on Astana – Pavlodar1,401,004.

WHAT ELSE THE STATISTICS COVER

In the north, significant traffic was recorded on the Kostanay – Denisovka, Shchuchinsk – Kokshetau and Kokshetau – Petropavlovsk sections. In the west, the statistics include the Actobe – Russian border and Kandyagash – Makat routes, as well as sections from Uralsk towards the Russian border.

In the east and south-east, notable flows were recorded on the Almaty – Khorgos, Konayev – Taldykorgan and Usharal – Dostyk roads.

WHICH SECTIONS OPERATED IN TOLL MODE FOR ONLY PART OF JULY

The figures for three new toll sections need to be considered separately. Karaganda – Balkhash – Burylbaital and Burylbaital – Kurty began operating in toll mode on 10 July 2026, and Taldykorgan – Ust-Kamenogorsk on 11 July.

Their figures therefore reflect only part of July and are not directly comparable with sections that operated in toll mode for all seven months.

Traffic intensity statistics are used in planning road maintenance, organising roadside services, developing intelligent transport systems and identifying measures to increase the capacity of the busiest routes.
