In Almaty, the celebration of Körisü Day — the start of Nauryz — opened with a high-tech show on Kok-Tobe. The concert «Köktöbedegi Körisü» combined the traditions of Kazakh culture with modern technology: the programme featured sound drones and robots that welcomed the holiday guests.

HOW THE CELEBRATION ON KOK-TOBE BEGAN

The festive events took place on 14 March at one of the city's most famous locations — Kok-Tobe. The concert, titled «Köktöbedegi Körisü», marked the ceremonial start of the Nauryz celebrations.

The opening of the programme was accompanied by a show of sound drones. The high-tech devices rose into the sky above Kok-Tobe and created a light display, greeting residents and guests of the city for the holiday. According to the organisers, this performance was the symbolic start of the concert programme.

ROBOTS BECAME PART OF THE FESTIVE PROGRAMME

One of the most unusual elements of the event was the participation of robots. Their appearance was linked to the declared Year of Artificial Intelligence.

The robots interacted with visitors: they approached people, greeted them, and hugged the guests. According to the organisers, this format was intended to create an additional festive atmosphere and highlight the modern nature of the event.

A THEATRICAL PERFORMANCE SHOWCASED THE KÖRISÜ TRADITION

After the technological show, the programme continued with a theatrical performance prepared by artists from the «Alatau» traditional art theatre.

The performance depicted the ancient Kazakh tradition of körisü — the ritual of greeting and meeting after a long winter. The artists greeted the audience and hugged them, demonstrating the meaning and symbolism of this custom.

WHO PERFORMED AT THE CONCERT

Famous representatives of the Kazakh pop scene performed on the stage of the festive concert:

  • Aigül Qosanova
  • Madina Säduaqasova
  • the groups «Alatau serileri», «KeshYOU», Made in KZ, «Tūmar»
  • the state dance ensemble «Saltanat»

The artists presented musical and dance numbers that became part of the festive programme.

HOW MANY GUESTS ATTENDED THE EVENT

According to the organisers, more than 2,000 residents and guests of Almaty took part in the event.

The cable car to Kok-Tobe was made free of charge for visitors, and free tea was offered to all guests.

The festival «Köktöbedegi Körisü» was one of the first events opening the Nauryz celebration season in Almaty and demonstrated a new format for city events, where traditional cultural elements are combined with modern technologies.
