On the Astana – Temirtau road, cameras with elements of artificial intelligence (AI) recorded several rear-end collisions. There were no fatalities as a result of these accidents.

According to the press service of JSC NC KazAvtoZhol, drivers did not react to the road situation in time and, with virtually no braking, collided with vehicles travelling ahead of them.
The reasons for the loss of concentration in each specific case have not yet been established. The publication cited drowsiness, fatigue or distraction by a smartphone as possible factors.
WHY A FEW SECONDS OF INATTENTION ARE DANGEROUS
In a few seconds, a car travelling at high speed covers tens of metres. In such a situation, the driver has considerably less time to react to changes in the road situation and avoid a collision.
The exact circumstances of each recorded accident must be established by the competent authorities.
KazAvtoZhol urged drivers not to use smartphones while driving and not to continue their journey if they feel drowsy.
Drivers who feel tired are advised to stop in a safe place and rest.
CONTEXT
Earlier, on the republican road "Taldykorgan – Kalbatau – Ust-Kamenogorsk", work began after reconstruction to rectify defects in the road surface. The national company cited the movement of heavy vehicles exceeding the established weight and axle parameters as one of the factors behind damage to certain sections.
