In Astana, the investigation into the case against 15 members of an organised crime group (OCG) accused of running a brothel, including involving minors, has been completed. According to the investigation, the group operated in residential complexes in the capital from 2023 to 2025.
HOW THE GROUP OPERATED
According to the Astana City Prosecutor's Office, two sisters together with their husbands set up a brothel in the city's residential complexes to provide sexual services. The group also included security guards, administrators and people responsible for advertising services through social networks and messaging apps.
According to the investigation, the organisers sought out girls in Astana nightclubs. They were promised a high income, accommodation, safety and confidentiality. It is noted that minors were also involved in the brothel's activities.
WHAT THE INVESTIGATION ESTABLISHED
The investigation also established that members of the group, taking advantage of clients' state of alcohol intoxication, used physical force against them, extorted money and unlawfully detained them in rented flats.
At the same time, a final legal assessment of the defendants' actions has not yet been given, and the guilt of each participant is to be established in court.
PREVENTIVE MEASURE
All 15 defendants have been detained. Preventive measures in the form of detention in custody and house arrest have been imposed on them.
The Astana City Prosecutor's Office has sent the criminal case to court.
CONTEXT
Earlier, the Inter-District Criminal Court of Ust-Kamenogorsk completed the consideration of a criminal case against 14 members of an OCG. The court found them guilty of crimes related to the production and distribution of pornographic materials.
In July, police officers in Kokshetau shut down the activities of brothels operating in rented flats. A pre-trial investigation was launched into the organisation and running of brothels, as well as procuring. During the searches, almost 1.9 million tenge was seized.
