Founder of FBRK and journalist Kirill Pavlov has identified contradictions in the actions of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry (MDDIAI).
In his Telegram channel ‘Kazakh Chuvash’ he drew attention to a news item stating that 6.3 billion tenge was allocated in 2023 for the joint Kazakhstan-Russia ‘Baiterek’ rocket system project, with plans to allocate a further 13.2 billion tenge in 2025.
Authorities reported that the previously allocated funds were used to modernise the ‘Zenit – M’ space rocket system for launching new-generation rockets, which will carry out unmanned space programmes.
According to Wikipedia, components for the ‘Zenit – M’ rocket systems were manufactured at the ‘Yuzhmash’ A. M. Makarov Southern Machine-Building Plant (Yuzhmash), located in Dnipro, Ukraine.
At the same time, it became known that in July 2022, the plant’s production workshops and infrastructure were destroyed as a result of Russian missile strikes.
Pavlov questioned which rockets the MDDIAI plans to launch and where it will source the components.
