One of the figures in the criminal case against the management of the Almaty market 'Altyn Orda' — Zhumadin Patov — is located in the USA, in the state of California.
As journalists from the Telegram channel 'Access to the Sea' found out, Patov has opened a logistics company and is renting accommodation in the affluent Newport Beach area.
It has become known that Zhumadin Patov was born in Tajikistan. Before leaving Kazakhstan, he lived in the city of Kaskelen, Almaty Region, as did several other former leaders of 'Altyn Orda' who have been placed on the international wanted list.
According to data from the California state registry, in May 2024 Patov registered a company Bex Logistics LLC, specialising in logistics operations. The legal entity was registered at an address in the city of Irvine, which is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. In February 2025, Patov filed a notice of change of residence, simultaneously changing the company's legal address — he now lives in rented apartments in the Newport Park residential complex in Newport Beach.
It is reported that his rent costs him $3,300 (1.6 million tenge) per month. The market value of such a property is estimated at approximately $1.5 million (769.3 million tenge).
As stated in the documents, as of the end of February 2025, Patov was still located in the USA. There is no confirmation of his official immigration status, nor data on whether he holds US citizenship or a residence permit.
Kazakhstan's official bodies have not yet commented on whether the extradition of Zhumadin Patov has been requested, or whether they officially have information about his whereabouts.
To recall, in 2023, law enforcement agencies in Kazakhstan launched an investigation into alleged abuses and corruption schemes in the management of the country's largest market — 'Altyn Orda' LLP. According to media reports, this enterprise was previously under the control of Bolat Nazarbayev, the brother of the former president.
In January of that year, four former market leaders - Daniyar Abdigaparov, Zhumadin Patov, Kanat Zhakayev and Aidos Nurkaliyev - were placed on the international wanted list. In May of this year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan re-listed Daniyar Abdigaparov and Kanat Zhakayev, who, according to media reports, has changed his surname to Almabek.
