Residents of Atyrau who damaged apple trees during a free apple picking event in an orchard cultivated by the deaf society will be held accountable.
According to the Telegram channel «HALYQSTAN», the press service of the city akimat reported that this was stated by the akim of Atyrau Shakir Keikin during a meeting with employees of Kaspijdorstroj (KDMS) LLP, which maintains the orchard.
«Recently, there have been more frequent cases of some residents breaking branches and damaging green spaces. In this regard, control measures in the orchard area have been strengthened. Appropriate measures will be taken against violators who damaged the trees, in cooperation with police officers,» the statement said.
It was also noted that the apple orchard is now under round-the-clock surveillance by KDMS and the police.
Shakir Keikin urged citizens to treat the orchard with care and reminded them of the need to look after the green spaces.
It has become known that the apple orchard has existed since 2021. At that time, 1,000 apple trees were planted.
For context, a previous charitable initiative for free apple picking in Atyrau ended in destruction. The orchard, which the deaf society had cultivated for more than five years, opened its gates to residents so that everyone could pick apples for free. However, part of the visitors, instead of careful picking, damaged 170 trees, broke branches, and smashed the irrigation system.
