The prosecutor's office of Stepnogorsk identified violations in 9 government procurements totalling 710 million tenge, organised by the city akimat.

According to the press service of the agency, the violations consisted of inflating the cost of goods, works and services, including unnecessary volumes of work, and setting requirements for participants that did not comply with the law.

Through prosecutorial intervention, 9 government procurements worth 710 million tenge were cancelled.

The local executive body was recommended to revise the design and estimate documentation. As a result, authorised officials cancelled three tenders and reduced the estimated cost for six procurements by eliminating unjustified expenses.

Ultimately, prosecutors prevented unjustified budget spending totalling 235 million tenge.

For context, earlier prosecutors in the Abai region prevented unjustified spending of more than 160 million tenge from the budget.
