On the grounds of the Abylai Khan clearing in the Burabay State National Nature Park, tourists have complained about unsanitary conditions and the smell of horses.
Regional authorities attribute the situation to the activities of entrepreneurs working without permits. At the same time, entry fees and the development of the resort's tourism infrastructure are being discussed.
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SANITARY CONDITIONS
In the Akimat of Akmola Region, they explained that the official operator of the territory is Burabay Damu LLP, which is subordinate to the Department of Affairs of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and that sanitary maintenance is organised on an ongoing basis, reports BES.media.
At the same time, the violations are linked to entrepreneurs who provide horse riding services without permits and fail to comply with sanitary standards. To curb illegal activities, the Akimat, together with the police and the administration of the Burabay State National Nature Park (SNNP) and Burabay Damu LLP, is conducting raids. In 2025, 183 such raids were carried out.
INFRASTRUCTURE AND TERRITORY CLEANING
The clearing has parking spaces: 100 paid and 50 free. In 2025, more than 20,000 tonnes of waste were removed from the resort, and an additional 15 new sanitary facilities were installed. In total, 82 sanitary facilities were in operation during the summer of 2025.
COST OF HOLIDAYS AND PLANS FOR RESORT DEVELOPMENT
During a briefing, the region's akim, Marat Akhmetzhanov, acknowledged the problem of high holiday costs and stated the need for competition in the tourism sector.
"There must be competition here, that is, a segment of expensive and mid-range holidays. And for that, competition is necessary. Therefore, as part of the development of the tourism cluster, various options for sports and water activities are being planned, spread across all facilities to avoid overcrowding. You understand, when there is such a surge, it creates demand and leads to artificial price inflation", the akim noted.
It is reported that new high-end hotels are being built in Burabay and the tourist zone is being developed to make holidays more affordable and reduce prices.
