A resident of Atyrau damaged a rare bamboo while visiting the botanical garden in Batumi.
______________
For reference: Batumi Botanical Garden is one of the largest in the world, featuring unique collections of various plant species. Its area exceeds 100 hectares.

According to ORDA, the visitor carved the initials of lovers onto the plant's trunk. Visitors to the botanical garden were outraged by the tourist's actions.

"I made comments, but as you can see, the girl looks pleased and continues without any conscience," wrote a resident of Georgia on social media, who witnessed the incident.

The garden administration also expressed displeasure with this act and reminded that the botanical garden in Batumi is not only a popular tourist location but also a place for the preservation of rare plant species. It is not reported whether the Kazakh woman was fined for damaging the rare plants.

In June, a similar situation occurred in Italy. A Kazakh citizen was detained there for defacing a two-thousand-year-old historical monument. This also caused a public outcry. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also spoke on this matter.

"There is a problem of vandalism and inappropriate behaviour by our citizens in public places, both within the country and abroad. Outrageous cases of damaging historical and cultural heritage, and desecrating monuments should not only be punished by law but also condemned by society," said the President.

Furthermore, he noted the key role of the media in covering such offences.

Recall that in August 2023, a video began circulating online, in which the former director of the House of Culture for the Visually Impaired in Aktobe, Manas Kosherbaev, was caught "carving" certain inscriptions into the rocks of the Ybykty Sai canyon.

After this, he recorded a video apologising. According to him, he had no malicious intent - he claimed he was trying to correct a rude word

Later, Kosherbaev wrote a letter of resignation of his own accord and left his managerial position. It was then reported that he headed the Baiganin District House of Culture, but he did not manage to stay in this post even for a month - he was dismissed again.
