A citizen of Russia, suspected of committing serious crimes, has been extradited from Georgia to Kazakhstan. He was brought at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to the press service of the department, the extradition was carried out by employees of the Prosecutor General's Office and the National Central Bureau of Interpol with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Kazakh law enforcement agencies suspect the citizen of the Russian Federation of involvement in committing serious crimes.
It is reported that in 2022, the man took part in the kidnapping of citizens and the violent seizure of their property in Almaty. The final legal assessment of his actions will be given during the investigation and trial.
The suspect had been hiding from law enforcement agencies for more than three years and was on the international wanted list. In September of this year, he was detained on the territory of Georgia, after which he was extradited to Kazakhstan.
Currently, the suspect has been placed in a pre-trial detention centre. As noted by the supervisory authority, for the commission of the incriminated acts, the criminal legislation provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term of 7 to 12 years with confiscation of property.
Let us recall that earlier, employees of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Central Bureau of Interpol, with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, extradited a citizen of Ukraine from Poland, who was on the international wanted list on suspicion of trafficking in human organs.
