A citizen of Kazakhstan, wanted for multiple counts of fraud, has been extradited from Turkey.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, in 2023 in Shymkent, the suspect, together with other individuals, posted knowingly false advertisements on an internet platform for the sale of cars at prices below market value. As a result of the illegal actions, 52 victims lost over 70 million tenge.
The accomplices in the fraud were previously sentenced to various types of punishment. One of the individuals involved fled after committing the crimes and was placed on the international wanted list. In August of this year, he was detained in Turkey.
The suspect has now been placed in a pre-trial detention centre. He faces a punishment of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years with confiscation of property.
It is worth recalling that earlier, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, a citizen suspected of committing a series of fraudulent acts in the Almaty region was extradited from Kyrgyzstan.
