During a meeting of the working group to discuss the Building Code, one specialist, who joined online, appeared on screen wearing a home vest, with food and a drink. The video was published by Majilis deputy Bolatbek Aliyev.

According to him, the situation did not cause him any negativity, but made him think about the degree of openness and informality of modern discussions. However, judging by the reaction on social media, such 'accessibility' was not to everyone's liking.

According to IA 'NewTimes.kz', Aliyev said that the expert participated in the meeting from home.

'One of the specialists took part directly from home — in an ordinary vest. He had food in his hands and a drink nearby. And in that state, he listened to us and took part in the discussion,' Aliyev said.

According to the deputy, he did not see this as a breach of business etiquette.

'This is not a lack of discipline. This is a sign of accessibility. <...> This is direct proof that the Majilis works openly, accessibly and truly democratically. We are creating the law together with industry specialists — openly, through debate, through arguments,' the deputy believes.

However, in the comments under the video, many users expressed the opposite opinion. According to them, such a format speaks less about openness and more about disrespect for the work process.

'At a time when schoolchildren were forced to attend online lessons in a white shirt. This isn't about discipline, it's about respect for you, about how seriously a person takes their work. <…> This is not a sign of accessibility, but a sign of disrespect and permissiveness,' commentators write.

The behaviour of the specialist who joined the official meeting in a home vest with food in hand appears not just informal, but unprofessional — especially given that the simple rules of business etiquette require maintaining appearance, a professional work environment and respect for colleagues, even in an online format.
