Shulbinskaya HPP LLP in the Abay region has announced an open tender for the modernisation of its video surveillance system. The lot price is 869.9 million tenge, and including VAT – 1 billion tenge. The system will be used to monitor production processes and compliance with safety regulations.

WHAT SHULBINSKAYA HPP IS PURCHASING

According to Hronika.kz, artificial intelligence modules are planned to be integrated into the video surveillance system. On the Samruk-Kazyna procurement portal, the "Additional characteristics" field explicitly states that the modernisation involves the introduction of intelligent modules capable of detecting violations.

WHAT WILL BE MONITORED

According to the technical specification, the AI will be used to monitor the entire production process. This includes staff activities, such as the use of personal protective equipment. In addition, the AI will be able to detect unauthorised persons on the HPP premises and will also signal the occurrence of any emergency situations.

LEARNING FROM ALMATY'S EXPERIENCE

Hronika.kz notes that shortly before the tender announcement, employees of Shulbinskaya HPP visited Almaty Electric Power Stations JSC (AlES), where they familiarised themselves with the operation of an already existing AI-based video surveillance system.

As explained on the AlES website, the system monitors compliance with health and safety regulations in real time. It detects the absence of helmets, workers in hazardous zones, suspicious objects, and signs of emergency situations: smoke, fire, steam

It is worth recalling that Shulbinskaya HPP LLP is part of the public company Qazaq Green Power PLC, which in turn is 100% owned by Samruk-Energy JSC.
