Senator Nautiyev questioned the Ministry of Transport's data on road quality

Senator Alibek Nautiyev has questioned the accuracy of the Ministry of Transport's information on the condition of local roads. This concerns the claimed 89% of roads supposedly in a standard condition.

"This figure, given public complaints, raises certain doubts," explained Alibek Nautiyev.

As reported by Cmn.kz, the deputy noted systemic problems in the construction, repair, and maintenance of roads. He cited insufficiently effective state planning as the main cause.

"This mainly concerns local roads. Despite uniform approaches to repairs across all regions, there is a significant gap in their condition. For example, while 99% of roads in the Zhambyl region are in standard condition, in the West Kazakhstan region this figure is almost twice as low – only 56%," the deputy noted.

The senator emphasised that the true picture can only be established through large-scale technical diagnostics and certification of all local road sections.

"Based on the results of such diagnostics, the most problematic sections are identified, depending on the nature of the defects found, the types of repairs are assigned, and the service life is forecast. There should be a unified database on the condition of roads at all levels, broken down by region, with real and reliable data," he said.

Nautiyev recalled that back in 2023, following parliamentary hearings on regional development, the Senate Committee recommended that the government carry out such diagnostics; however, to date, it only fully covers roads of national significance.
