Another fire in Semei Ormany

In the Beskara gained district of the Abai region, a fire was recorded on an area of 7 hectares.

"Today, an operator from the state forestry enterprise 'Semey Ormany' reported that in the Beskaragai district, on the territory of the Dongulek forestry, plantations are burning in a forested area", the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

60 personnel, 15 units of equipment, 2 unmanned aerial vehicles and a MI-2 helicopter were sent to the scene of the fire. It later became known that the fire had been extinguished.

Recall that in June last year, a major fire occurred in the forests of the Abai region, as a result of which 14 employees of the 'Semey Ormany' forest nature reserve died. The fire destroyed more than 63,000 hectares of unique relict pine forest. The damage exceeded 160 billion tenge. 

In July of this year, it was reported that the director of the 'Semey Ormany' reserve branch was detained in the Abai region. He is suspected of stealing timber. In addition to him, law enforcement officers detained more than 20 people.
