The head of the National Statistics Bureau of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms (ASPR), Maksat Turlubayev, stated that 3.7 billion tenge is planned to be allocated from the national budget for conducting the national agricultural census in Kazakhstan.
According to Informburo.kz, Turlubayev noted that the majority of the expenditure will go towards remunerating census personnel, acquiring and maintaining technical equipment, and supporting information systems.
"After completing all stages, we will publish the preliminary census results in December 2025. The final consolidated data and analytical reports will be released on the National Statistics Bureau website in 2026," he said.
For reference: an agricultural census is a large-scale statistical survey that provides up-to-date and reliable information on the structure, resources, and current state of the agricultural sector.
As Turlubayev explained, the data collection will cover legal entities and individual entrepreneurs, as well as households running personal subsidiary plots.
Specifically, this includes farms engaged in crop production, livestock farming, and fishing, as well as private households owning farm animals or land plots.
It has become known that the last agricultural census in Kazakhstan was conducted in 2006–2007, but separately – first for crop production, then for livestock. This year, the census is planned to be carried out in a single stage.
"Before the main stage, from 1 to 30 June, a preliminary survey of personal subsidiary plots will be conducted in 70 cities. The census personnel will verify the list of households subject to the main interview. This work will be done to ensure that people actually live at the selected addresses and run personal subsidiary plots," Turlubayev reminded.
It will be recalled that employees of the territorial divisions of the National Statistics Bureau reported plans to conduct a pilot agricultural census in July last year. It was supposed to take place in 54 cities and villages across the country from August to September.
