The Almaty Prosecutor's Office has uncovered instances of public opinion polls regarding the construction of a nuclear power plant being conducted without compliance with legal requirements.
According to the press service of the department, as a result 4 citizens were brought to administrative responsibility and fined.
Recall that at the end of June Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that a referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan will take place this autumn.
The President has repeatedly noted that the construction of a nuclear power plant is an especially important economic and political issue. The Head of State assured that the final decision on the construction of the nuclear power plant would be up to the people.
At the beginning of September, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his annual Address to the people of Kazakhstan, announced that the national referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant would take place on 6 October this year.
Later, Central Election Commission member Sabila Mustafina reported that 15.5 billion tenge are planned to be requested from the budget for the national referendum.
Subsequently, the Prosecutor General's Office reminded of the rules for conducting public opinion polls ahead of the referendum.
It was reported then that prosecutors had already identified 8 instances of illegal public opinion polls related to the national referendum. As a result, 6 individuals were brought to account for administrative violations and fines were imposed.
