The Prosecutor's Office of the Karasai District of the Almaty Region has returned the municipal enterprise "Tausamaly", which provides the local population with drinking water, to state ownership.
According to the press service of the department, the property is valued at 1.1 billion tenge. It became known that prosecutors identified a violation of the tendering procedure during the privatisation of the enterprise in 2017.
"In order to restore legality, the prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit with the court for the return of illegally privatised property to state ownership and the invalidation of the sale and purchase agreement", the statement said.
The Specialised Inter-District Economic Court of the Almaty Region upheld the prosecutor's office's demands. The sale and purchase agreement was declared illegal, and the enterprise was returned to state ownership.
Recall that earlier, residents of Shymkent collected signatures for a petition to return the property of LLP "Water Resources-Marketing" to state ownership and submitted it to the city akimat. This company provides city residents with drinking water and maintains the sewerage systems.
The akimat agreed with the arguments of the petition, noting that since this issue does not fall within the competence of the state body, the final decision will be made by the court.
