President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin held talks in a restricted format, following which they signed 20 agreements aimed at developing bilateral cooperation in various fields.
During the meeting, the heads of state emphasised the importance of further expanding cooperation, particularly in industrial collaboration, energy, transport and ecology.
According to President Tokayev, Putin's visit was an important step in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
"Kazakhstan has been and remains a reliable ally of Russia in these challenging times", noted Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Vladimir Putin, for his part, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and highlighted the dynamic development of bilateral relations. He noted that trade turnover between the countries last year amounted to nearly $28.5 billion, and investments in Kazakhstan's economy reached $13 billion.
"We view Kazakhstan as our reliable friend and ally", stated Vladimir Putin.
The talks between the heads of state covered issues of humanitarian cooperation, education and science, as well as the development of interregional ties.
An equally important topic was preparations for the anniversary celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, where both leaders expressed readiness for joint events.
It is reported that the further development of the agreements will be discussed at the level of governments and relevant ministries.
