In the Denisovsky District Court of Kostanay Region, a former local police inspector has been convicted. He was charged with fraud.
According to the press service of the Kostanay Region courts, from October 2022 to June 2023, the police captain, abusing the trust of his fellow villagers, convinced them under various pretexts to take out loans in their own names.
Having obtained the money, the defendant gambled it away at the «OlimpBet» bookmaker's office and «Loto Club» lottery clubs. He also partially paid off his existing debts to other individuals. The total amount of damage amounted to more than 31 million tenge.
In court, the defendant pleaded guilty and expressed remorse for his actions. It is noted that the majority of victims in the case asked the court not to deprive him of his freedom.
In the end, the court sentenced the former policeman to imprisonment for a term of 3 years and 1 month in a medium-security penal institution.
