Prosecutors in Almaty brought a major oil supplier to justice for monopolistic practices.

According to the press service of the agency, LLP «Petrosun», abusing its dominant position in the market, unreasonably restricted the sale of road bitumen to entrepreneurs.

The Specialised Inter-District Administrative Court of Almaty held the partnership liable and imposed a fine of 5% of the company's income.

It is reported that the fine of 141.6 million tenge was paid into the state budget.

Recall that in April 2023, it became known that evidence of the application of monopolistically high prices in the sale of liquefied petroleum gas was found in the actions of LLP «Petrosun». It emerged that from September to November 2021, the wholesale gas price rose by more than 300% from the approved ceiling price, reaching 183 thousand tenge per tonne. The LLP was subsequently brought to administrative responsibility and fined more than 600 million tenge.

In November of the same year, the Almaty Department of the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition discovered that LLP «Petrosun» had unlawfully restricted the sale of AI-92 petrol and diesel fuel to certain market entities with which it had concluded agreements. For abusing its dominant position, the company was then fined 542.9 million tenge.

In October this year, employees of the APDC established that the company LLP «Petrosun» had abused its dominant position in the wholesale petroleum products market. The court found the agency's conclusion to be justified and fined LLP «Petrosun» 875 million tenge
