The Department of the Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) in Astana has shut down the activities of the financial pyramid «Happy Life KZ».
According to the press service of the agency, the suspect, from 2016 to 2024, under the guise of selling dietary supplements, attracted investors by promising income from 10% to 300% for each new participant.
The membership fee ranged from 7,500 tenge to 2 million tenge. As a result, 35 people lost more than 286 million tenge.
«It is important to emphasise that all the victims are pensioners who trusted the tempting promises of easy income, not suspecting that their savings would become part of a scheme for redistributing funds among other investors», the statement reads.
It has become known that the suspect used the illegally obtained money to purchase an apartment in an elite residential complex in Astana worth 36 million tenge.
By court order, the said apartment has been seized. The court imposed a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the city and to behave appropriately. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
It will be recalled that earlier it was reported that the FMA Department for the Pavlodar Region is conducting a pre-trial investigation into the creation and management of the financial pyramid «Avtolyuks».
The alleged organiser attracted more than 150 people, who invested over 100 million tenge in the financial pyramid.
