Police in Pavlodar have detained a local resident who got behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs. Moreover, the man had previously been stripped of his driving licence.
HOW THE DETENTION HAPPENED
As reported by the portal Polisia.kz, police officers stopped a Hyundai Accent on Estai Street. While checking the documents, officers suspected the driver was under the influence of drugs. Their suspicions were confirmed by the results of a medical examination.
WHAT ELSE IS KNOWN ABOUT THE DRIVER
It was also established that in July 2023 the Pavlodar resident had his driving licence revoked for 7 years. An investigation into the offender is underway. His car has been placed in a special impound lot.
THE DANGER OF SUCH DRIVING
As police note, driving under the influence is one of the main causes of high accident rates on the roads. In the Pavlodar region, 52 such cases have already been identified since the start of this year.
For context, on 5 January in Kosshy a driver was detained who was transporting children in a car while under the influence of drugs. A year earlier, the man had already been stripped of his driving licence for a similar offence. The police have opened a criminal case.
