The Organised Crime Control Department of the Kyzylorda Regional Police Department has detained suspects in the theft of petroleum products from a Kyzylorda enterprise.
According to Polisia.kz, the criminal scheme involved employees and security guards of the industrial facility.
Police conducted more than 20 searches and seized over 25 tonnes of stolen petroleum products.
"The preliminary damage caused to the enterprise by the actions of the suspects amounted to more than 200 million tenge. Twelve individuals have been brought to the police, nine of whom have been placed in a temporary detention facility," the statement reads.
The investigative department of the regional police department is conducting an inquiry into the facts of theft and transportation of petroleum products without the appropriate documents.
Recall that in December 2024, law enforcement officers at the Kazakh-Uzbek border disrupted the activities of a criminal group and dismantled a tunnel intended for smuggling petroleum products.
Through the tunnel, which was 450 metres long, smuggled fuel and lubricants amounting to 5-7 tonnes were transported daily. The illegal activity continued for about two months.
